New Beginnings
  • New Beginnings   Did you know that New Beginnings started at OSLC?  (Click Here)

"New Beginnings" provides children in need with brand new clothes to begin school.  Each year we are able to help children start school with a bit more self esteem as we gave each of them 3 shirts, 2 pants, 1 jacket, 1 package of socks, underwear and a gift certificate toward a pair of shoes.  We do this lovingly every year as God has given us the grace to do so.  As the years have progressed we seem to grow into new communities.

“And it is He who will supply all your needs from His riches in glory, because of what Jesus Christ has done for you. Now unto God our Father be glory forever and ever.  AMEN!”
      Philippians 4:18-20

2017 Report

New Beginnings completed its 24th year in 2017. This ministry brings a smile to children’s faces, confidence in themselves, and a feeling that someone cares about them. What a worthwhile and blessed ministry!
New Beginnings helped to clothe 208 children from surrounding towns last year. New Beginnings specifically shopped for 53 children in Thomaston, 51 in Watertown, 8 in Litchfield, 29 in Bristol, 55 in Naugatuck, and 12 in Waterbury. Each child received 3 shirts, 2 pairs of pants, a jacket, a package of socks, a package of underwear, and a $25 gift card towards shoes! That’s quite an accomplishment!
As OSLC begins its 25th year, let’s pray that God will help and guide us as He always has.
Luke 3:11 truly sums up our New Beginnings ministry: “He who has two coats, let him share with he who has none.”

Song for “New Beginnings” Blessing
(to the Tune of “Go, My Children”)
            “You, my children, are so precious,
                        I’m close to you.
            You, my children, aren’t forgotten,
                        I’m close to you.
            Through the kindness of your brothers,
                        sisters, unknown friends, and others,
            They have bought you clothes this season,
                        all because of love.”
            “You, my dear friends, care for children,
                        I’m close to you.
             You, my dear friends, shared your dollars,
                        I’m close to you.
            Through your shopping, packing, praying
                        grateful hearts to you are saying;
            You have made me smile so greatly,
                        all because of love.”
            “‘New Beginnings’ clothes the children
                        embraced by me;
            ‘New Beginnings’ breathes new wonders,
                        into families.
            Boxes filled with clothes surround them
                        as the prayers of love enfold them;
            ‘New Beginnings’ does supply them,
                        all because of love.” ¯
